Licensing and state accreditation

Licensing and state accreditation and academic activity of the university are carried out in accordance with the license of August 18, 2016, registration № 2342 (90Л01 №0009406); state accreditation, issued by the Federal Agency for Supervision in Education and Science, of November 22, 2017, registration №2711 (90А01 № 0002847) 

Internal system of education quality evaluation

The most important tool for ensuring objective and effective procedures for evaluation of students’ competency levels and competency achievement indicators is the point-rating system of evaluation of learning outcomes used by VSTU.

Professional-public, joint, and international accreditation

Secondary vocational education programs: Railway Construction, Track and Track Facilities; Technical Operation of Railway Rolling Stock (Electric Motive Power); Technical Operation of Railway Rolling Stock (Locomotives and Diesel Trains); Organization of Transportation and Transport Management (by area) underwent professional-public accreditation carried out by the Zheldortrans Association.

Mission

The mission of VSTU is to train highly qualified specialists for the transport industry, conduct research, and meet the educational needs of the region and the country as a whole.

University today

As a research and educational cluster, which provides personnel, methodological and technological frameworks for the development of the transport industry, VSTU strives to achieve the following objectives:

  1. Provision of the transport system with highly qualified personnel;
  2. Development of the environment for attracting and developing change leaders in the industry.

Aim: effective development of transport business competitive in the Russian and global markets, the core of which is effective fulfillment of tasks of rail cargo and passenger carriers and owners of the public rail infrastructure.

Know how

Cross-functional professional training in various qualifications for transport industry specialists with a unique set of competencies. While studying, HE and SVE students acquire 1-3 additional professional qualifications. Russian Specialist’s degrees are considered equivalent to Master's degrees abroad.

Strategic aim

Development of VSTU as a research and educational center for innovative development. Such a center is supposed to be developed as part of the regional (within the boundaries of the Volga Federal District) innovative ecosystem of the transport industry.

VSTU consistently develops its research with a focus on the priorities of the federal projects.

Specialization

The university specializes in science, technology and modern management of transport.

The university offers 11 Bachelor's programs, 13 Specialist's programs, 6 Master's programs, and 16 PhD programs.

Moreover, it provides continuing professional education: the Institute of Distance Education, the Linguistics Center, the Transportation Security Center, and the Institute of Professional and Corporate Competencies.

People

More than 232 teachers, including over 110 Professors and Associate Professors. 2,236 full-time students. Around 350 international students from 10 countries.

State-of-the-art laboratories, workshops, simulators and simulator complexes, railway training equipment test tracks (public and with restricted access), interactive classrooms, and a digital research library.

Research

VSTU consistently develops its research with a focus on the priorities of the federal projects. University scientists implement important projects in the field of quantum and digital technologies, intelligent transport technologies, high-speed rail technologies, smart transport infrastructure, and modern logistics systems.

  • that actively works in the international market of educational services to implement the education export project as part of personnel training for the transport industry of foreign countries through bilingual and English-taught educational programs in corresponding fields of study;
