Programme presentation. One of the most demanded areas of training in Adyghe State University is “Biology” delivered by the Departments of Physiology, Botany and Chemistry, which belong to the Faculty of Natural Science, one of the oldest subdivisions of the HEI.
The educational programme is aimed at training highly qualified competitive personnel. The Faculty has in place four research laboratories, a zoological museum and a tree nursery which have the status of unique research objects of higher school of the RF. The geo-graphical position and natural landscapes of the mountain ecosystems of the Northwest Caucasus provide an effective basis for academic and research practice which allows delivering academic courses in the natural environment, unique for its biodiversity and endemic species. There are successful research schools for the development of fundamental areas in theory of ontogeny and adaptation, science of nutrition and ecology, immunogenetics, biodiversity, rational use of natural resources and preservation of nature.
Teaching staff. Most of the staff members are highly qualified teachers of the specialized departments, including 8 Doctors and 15 Candidates of Sciences.
High level of research results of the teaching staff, recognition of research schools and areas is evidenced by significant amount of assimilated funds, printed research works, high scientometric indicators and active participation in various research conferences.
Competitiveness of students. High level of graduates’ training is confirmed by the joint participation of students and teachers in research within the Federal and regional targeted programmes and national conferences as well as by publications, diplomas, medals and various certificates for victories in student olympiads and contests for the best research work among under- and postgraduate students in the system of the Ministry of Education and Science of the RF.
Interaction with employers. Graduates in Biology are demanded by leading educational and research institutions of the region and realize their potential in education and research, production and technological, organizational and managerial, medical and bio-logical activities on the territory of the Russian Federation.
