Programme presentation. Innovation Studies is a unique educational programme, which gives an opportunity to master the skills of an engineer and manager simultaneously. The programme has no comparable counterparts abroad. The programme was launched in 2003 on the basis of the major department of Innovation Technologies. Innovation Studies programme was accredited according to the educational standards of the third generation.
The Innovation Technologies Department is considered to be the best among the University’s innovative educational programmes according to the results of the contests of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation; one of the leading major departments. The Rector of the University B.A. Lyovin is a winner of the Russian Federation Government Award in the field of education for research, methodological provision and experimental implementation of the programme “Innovation Studies” in Russian Universities. Teaching staff. 5 doctors of sciences, professors, who undertook internship in international Universities, 5 PhD assistant professors, 3 senior teachers and 7 assistants, represent research schools: “History and Philosophy of Innovations, Management of Innovations”, “Strategic Marketing of Innovative Technologies and Management”, “Creation of Innovative Transport Constructions on the Basis of Enhancing their Quality, Reliability and Safety”.
Compatibility of students. The average passing grade according to the results of the Unified State Examination is 210. The department is equipped with a computer classroom with a TLS system, which provides means for e-learning. The research laboratory of making system decisions provides an opportunity to teach the system of business analysis for developing strategic thinking in conditions of uncertainty. Students’ internship in management of corporative innovational projects and creation of competitive manufacturing of goods and services, and reengineering of business processes is implemented at railway enterprises or objects of innovative structure of
Interaction with employers. Employers actively participate in the educational process research activities of the department. The major part of graduation theses is made on the orders of partner organizations. Students undertake their internship in organizations of JSC “Russian Railways” and their branches.
