Programme presentation. An important area which determines the level of national and economic security of the country is information integration and system support of the product life cycle. A graduate in the profile “Automated Control of Product Life Cycle” is capable of developing and implementing technologies for support of the product lifecycle (CALS-technologies) “from idea to disposal”, is aware of modern standards of business management and quality management systems, and is able to use integrated information environments (PDM-, ERP-systems) and CAD-systems.

The Chair is one of the Major Chairs in the University. This is also facilitated by a well-developed material base: there is a three-tier local computer network with a database and tools for design and development of modern automated process control systems and SCADA-systems as well as up-to-date specialized laboratories. The Chair carries out activity in the area “Modernization of Polytechnic University Management”, one of the components of which is training and employment of personnel in particular specialties.

Competitiveness of students. The average passing grade for this area of training is one of the highest at the Faculty. Since 2009, 10-15 best students of the Chair have participated in student mobility programmes in the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences. The Chair is the University centre of CALS-technologies and a coordinator of pilot projects in CALS area for the companies of the region.

Teaching staff. Education is provided by 6 professors, Doctors of Sciences, 20 assistant professors (including 14 Candidates of Sciences) and 2 visiting lecturers from BaumanMoscowStateTechnicalUniversity. Teachers take an active part in research conferences, held in Russia, Germany and the USA.

Interaction with employers. Students are placed for work experience at the leading machine building companies of the region: “Proton – PermskiyeMotory”, “Aviadvigatel”, LLC “Mashinostroitel”, “Novomet”, companies of Perm “LIKOIL” group. From the first years of training students are involved in performing tasks of integration of IT relating to separate stages of product life cycle (design, technology development, production preparation and control).
