Current position in rankings. The university is ranked 22nd in the Ranking of Higher Education Institutions of the Vladimir Potanin Foundation, 56th in the Expert RA Agency Ranking, and 62th in the Ranking of Demand for Engineering Higher Education Institutions.

A high level of specialists' competence is confirmed by the fact that student works annually win prizes in regional and all-Russian olympiads and contests of graduation projects.

Teaching staff. The teachers of the department are highly qualified practitioners. Their professional skills fully meet qualification requirements for the implementation of the educational program (the Industrial and Civil Engineering major). The teachers are actively involved in academic, research and production activities. The teaching staff includes 13 Candidates of Engineering Sciences, Associate Professors, five Assistant Professors and Assistants.

Facilities and resources. The department has the laboratory for structural materials strength testing that comprises a tension testing machine, a press, a strain-gauge instrumentation set used to determine internal forces in individual elements of building structures.

Research. The department develops the following research areas: structural mechanics and structures, buildings and facilities.

Strategic partners. The university cooperates with enterprises such as Tyumen PROMSTROYPROEKT and KogalymNIPIneft. The employees of the department act as qualified experts and specialists participating in inspections and tests of individual building structures and technical state assessment of existing buildings and facilities. The department has established and has been developing creative relationships with production associations and other HEIs and research institutes of Russia, which allows for the development of academic year projects and graduation projects on requests of construction and design organizations.
