Achievements and awards. The program was recognized as one of agrarian education leaders by the Guild of Experts in the Sphere of Professional Education and the National Centre for Public Accreditation. The university successfully implements the certified quality management system.

Teaching staff. The academic degree holders rate is 100%. Ninety percent of the academic staff have degrees. The heads and employees of specialized organizations are also involved in the program delivery.

Facilities and resources. The university has the laboratories of chemistry, physics, plant physiology, soil science, specially equipped classrooms for geodesy, botany, dendrology, arboriculture, floriculture, landscape gardening, aesthetic forestry basics, an interactive classroom for landscape design, architectural graphics and composition basics as well as a dendrology park. All students have unrestricted access to the electronic library system and the electronic informational and educational environment of the university.

Research. The promising research areas include the following: study of adaptive strategies of woody plants as well as rare plant species in the urbanized environment and the specially protected natural areas; application of edible herbaceous plants in landscape architecture; ecological foundations of the urban green space development; preservation of the cultural and historic heritage of the Oryol Region.

Education. The university applies interactive learning technologies, learner-centered and computer technologies, level differentiation technology, modular learning, the project method.

Strategic partners. The university cooperates with enterprises such as NiKa-Design LLC, the Zelenstroy municipal unitary enterprise in Oryol, the StroyLandshaft landscape design company, the GLORIA farm household, and other organizations where students undertake their work placement. Their representatives are members of state examination boards.

International projects and programs. The university participated in the National Scholarship Program (Slovakia, 2017); students undertook their study placement as part of mobility programs: the Erasmus Mundus international mobility program (Germany, Hohenheim, 2011-2012); the Fulbright program “Sustainable Development of Urban Agglomerations,” 2015.

Competitive advantages. The university boasts highly qualified teaching staff; the unique dendrology park with a comprehensive collection of coniferous plants, flowering and flowerless trees and shrubs.
