Achievements and awards. The educational program underwent professional-public accreditation in 2015. It was the winner of the all-Russian project Best Educational Programs of Innovative Russia in 2017.

Teaching staff. The teaching staff consists of 11 employees including two Doctors of Sciences, Professors, three Candidates of Sciences, Associate Professors, six Candidates of Sciences, Assistant Professors. The employees of the Institute of Physics of the Dagestan Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Azimuth Research Institute, etc. are also engaged in the teaching process.

Facilities and resources. Classrooms and laboratories have state-of-the-art equipment and computers. Students can use the supercomputer. The department is equipped with state-of-the-art computer technology integrated into the local computer network and located in the laboratories of system software, computer graphics, computer and systems organization, CAD, programming technology, computer science and network technologies.

Research. Numerous research interests of the department include the following: uniform structures in management, navigation and air traffic control systems, earthquake prediction, management of marine floating oil and gas complexes, etc. As part of this educational program the department conducts research in the field of information coding and protection, development of automated process and system control systems.

Education. The teachers use state-of-the-art educational models and technologies: visualization lectures, round tables, discussions, brainstorming, designing, games, simulation exercises, case study.

Strategic partners. As part of the agreements on cooperation in science and technology the university interacts with the Dagdiesel Plant, the Aviaagregat Plant, the Electrosvyaz communications service provider, the Azimuth Research Institute, the OVEN company, and other organizations.

International projects and programs. The teachers and students participate in research grant competitions and research and development projects for young researchers. They annually present their research results and win prestigious awards in international contests such as the International Salon of Inventions and Innovative Technologies “Archimedes,” in the UMNIK program, etc.
