Achievements and awards. The Bachelor's program in Automation of Technological Processes and Production was included in the Best Educational Programs of Innovative Russia in 2017-2018.

There are eight laboratories with unique equipment including the simulation center for operation of automated control systems based on the equipment manufactured by Siemens S7-300 company with physical models of oil production facilities; the laboratory of electronics with Unitron-003 bench developed at the Research and Development Center of Electronics and Laser Technology of Industrial University of Tyumen; the laboratory of computer and telecommunications technologies with the benches for network security and intranets.
Research. The main research areas include the following: digital models and control technologies for oil and gas production processes; intelligent process control systems for oil and gas production; the use of electric analogies for simulating heat exchange and hydraulic processes.
Education. The teachers use the project method and practical and modular training methods; the innovative evaluation system "Portfolio;" information and communication and person-centered learning technologies.
Strategic partners. The department's industrial partners are gas production companies such as Gazprom dobycha Yamburg and Gazprom Dobycha Urengoy; the Transneft Siberia oil transportation company; the Antipinsky Refinery, the Tyumen Vodokanal water utility company, GMS Neftemash, an oil equipment supplier, the Tyumen Pribor automation company, the Vira Realtime automation company; the Gazprom Transgaz Surgut gas transportation company, Valmet Automation.
