Pediatrics
Accreditation. State accreditation.
Awards and achievements. BSMU took part in the independent and objective evaluation of students’ knowledge and has been co-hosting the All-Russian Olympiad “I am a Professional” since 2018. In 2023, the program underwent international accreditation for five years.
Teaching staff. The educational program is delivered by 16 departments that employ one Academician of the Academy of Sciences of Bashkortostan, 37 Professors, 30 Associate Professors, and more than 70 Candidates of Medical Sciences.
Facilities and resources. The faculty departments are located at the BSMU Clinic and the largest multidisciplinary medical institutions, children’s clinics, and outpatient clinics in Ufa. The university established the Federal accreditation center of the 3rd (highest) level for the acquisition of practical skills.
Learning outcomes. Students learn how to prevent diseases among the population by taking epidemic prevention and control measures; carry out preventive medical examinations, medical checkups, follow-up medical care for children; collect and carry out a medical and statistical analysis of information on children’s health indicators characterizing the health of their health; diagnose dental diseases and pathological conditions in children; diagnose medical emergencies, and many other things.
Research. Teachers and students actively conduct research in pediatrics, neonatology, pediatric surgery, rheumatology, endocrinology, and, in particular, in Biomedicine and Genetics as part of the program of the Eurasian Research and Education Center and the Priority 2030 program.
Competitive advantages. Educational internships and work placements at clinics are the most important link in training highly qualified pediatricians and in consolidating practical knowledge and skills in the future workplace environment. The multidisciplinary children’s clinics and outpatient clinics in Ufa are practical training facilities of the faculty’s specialized departments. Graduates of the Faculty of Pediatrics can pursue residency programs to obtain a qualification that will allow them to provide medical care for both children and adults.
Career prospects and employment. The main training facilities for students of the Faculty of Pediatrics are the Republican Children’s Clinical Hospital, the BSMU Clinic, City Clinical Hospital № 17 and children’s outpatient clinics in Ufa. Students can combine their studies and work as registered nurses, starting from the fourth year. The faculty graduates are sought after by medical institutions in the Republic of Bashkortostan and outside it. They work at medical and preventive treatment institutions, research institutes, and educational and social institutions. The employers are engaged as members of the State Examination Board for state final certification and experts for interim certification as well as for the development and evaluation of the educational program.
