Accreditation. State accreditation.
Awards and achievements. In 2023, the program was accredited according to WFME international standards. Accordingly, graduates’ qualifications will fully comply with the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education. Over its history, the faculty has trained over 5,700 specialists, including over 370 international ones. The faculty graduates are actively engaged in research, hold senior positions at dental organizations as head physicians, founders and directors of their clinics. The faculty interacts with Sechenov University and Russian University of Medicine.
Teaching staff. Training is provided by highly qualified teachers who are Academicians of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, freelance experts of the Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare, laureates of the ICPF International Humanitarian Award, as well as members of various associations such as the Russian Dental Association, the European Association for Cranio-Maxillo-Facial Surgery, the Association of Pediadontists; members of editorial boards of medical journals (Periodontology; Pediatric Dentistry and Prophylaxis; Dentistry Issues, and others), members of the Special Academic and Methodological Commission for Dentistry of the RF Ministry of Health. The teachers actively interact with practical healthcare authorities and consult and treat patients.
Facilities and resources. An extensive library collection and electronic databases, active and interactive teaching methods, a simulation practical skills center, and phantom classrooms. There is a clinical dental outpatient clinic for providing quality medical care for students and the population, which also serves as a training facility. At the faculty’s simulation center (simulation and accreditation centers), students drill phantom and dummy manipulations to improve their practical skills and competencies as best as possible. The center is equipped with state-of-the-art simulators such as virtual simulators and computer-simulated patient simulators (high-realism simulators).
Learning outcomes. Students learn how to prevent diseases among the population by taking epidemic prevention and control measures; collect and carry out a medical and statistical analysis of information on the dental morbidity rate in different age-sex groups and its influence on their state of health; diagnose dental diseases and pathological conditions in patients; diagnose medical emergencies in patients, and many other things.
Research. Research on modern dentistry and maxillofacial surgery issues is conducted jointly with the departments and fundamental research laboratories of BSMU. Over the years, the faculty has trained 20 Doctors and more than 145 Candidates of Medical Sciences. Students undertake educational internships and clinical work placements at the pediatric and adult dental outpatient clinics in the city and maxillofacial surgery departments of Hospital №21 and Republican Children's Clinical Hospital.
Career prospects and employment. All graduates are employed. The university’s cooperation with state and private dental clinics of the Russian Federation creates the opportunities for students to find a job in their degree field.
