Special (Defectologic) Education

Accreditation. State accreditation. Professional-public accreditation (the Union “Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Volgograd Region”).

Awards and achievements. Students take an active part in numerous contests, conferences and Olympiads and are permanent volunteers at the Vzlyot educational center.

Teaching staff. The program is delivered by 11 departments that employ highly qualified teachers. The university teachers take an active part in research, methodological and grant activities, are organizers of the regional Volunteer School of Social Inclusion of the Moscow Region.

Learning outcomes. Students learn how to independently complete professional tasks in speech therapy. During the learning process, students prepare for teaching and bringing up children with special educational needs, using special techniques and advanced classroom technologies.

Facilities and resources. The program has high-quality facilities and resources such as specialized classrooms, computer classrooms, a library, state-of-the-art educational and research laboratories, psychological tools and practical training facilities as well as the “Territory of Childhood” Children’s Development Center).

Research. The faculty has a student research society and science clubs. More than 30% of students are actively engaged in research, participate in publishing articles and speak at conferences at different levels.

Competitive advantages. Graduates are capable of working with different student groups at general education institutions, social development institutions, and boarding schools. They can rehabilitate, bring up and develop children with special educational needs; design and implement rehabilitation and adapted programs in the field of education.

Career prospects and employment. The university graduates hold senior positions in the educational system, are leading specialists at various educational organizations and methodological centers and win various contests and Olympiads.
