Achievements and awards. The programs underwent state accreditation in 2020 and international professional-public accreditation carried out by the National Accreditation Council in 2016.
The Crystal Compass National Award of the Russian Geographical Society (2015); the V.P. Semenov-Tyan-Shansky Award of the Association of Russian Social Geographers (2016); the RF President grant for the state support of leading scientific schools (2016-2017); the RFBR grants (2012-2014, 2013-2014, 2015, 2016-2018, 2020-2023); students’ study placements at the universities of Switzerland and Slovenia (2017) and Slovakia (2018) and postgraduate students’ study placement in Slovenia (2018).
Teaching staff. The academic degree holders ratio is 97%. The teaching staff includes 7 Doctors and over 20 Candidates of Sciences; 3 teachers are Honored Workers of HPE of the RF; one teacher is Honored Worker of Science and Technology of the RF, 2 teachers are honorary members of the RGS. The RAS Corresponding Member, the leading research fellow of the Institute of Geography RAS, representatives of the real sector of economy, foreign professors from Switzerland and Hungary are also engaged in the educational process.
Facilities and resources. The REC of Population and Territorial Planning, the Geological and Mineralogical Museum, the laboratory of environmental biochemistry, the learning and research laboratory of territorial planning, lecture halls equipped with multimedia, self-access centers, computer classrooms, etc.
Research. The promising research areas: scientific schools “Transformation of population reproduction, displacement and lifestyle,” “Regional landscape science, landscape ecology and biodiversity.” Research is conducted in the priority areas of the regional and university development.
Education. State-of-the-art educational technologies: multimedia lectures, case technologies, business games and role plays, the project method, round tables, etc. are used.
Strategic partners. The Institute of Geography RAS, the Institute of Socio-Political Research RAS, the Faculty of Geography of Lomonosov MSU, Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (Switzerland), the Center for Far Eastern Studies of University of Toyama (Japan), Central European University (Hungary); employers: Kartfond, the Center for Strategic Territorial Design, the Tourist travel agency in Stavropol, etc.
International projects and programs. The projects "The Image of Switzerland as Tourist Destination" and "The Barometer of Sustainable Tourism and Travels" (Lucerne University of Applied Sciences).
