The Ministry of Education and Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China has signed a license to establish a new joint Sino-Russian educational project – the Institute of Engineering and Technology.
This is a joint project of Jiamusi University (China) and Far Eastern State Transport University (Russia). The first students from China will be enrolled in the 2026/2027 academic year.
The Institute will offer three programs: the Bachelor’s program "Control in Engineering Systems" and two Master's programs – "Transport Process Technology" and "Informatics and Computer Engineering."
For the first two years, students from China will study on the Jiamusi University campus, which is to be built in Fuyuan, China. It is the closest city to Khabarovsk, located 69 km from it. For the next two years, Chinese students will continue their studies at FESTU, where they will also defend their graduation theses.
This joint educational project looks particularly promising in light of the upcoming opening of the border crossing on Bolshoy Ussuriysky Island near Khabarovsk. The opening of the new border crossing will provide a good opportunity to increase academic mobility for students not only from China but also from Russia: universities in northeastern China will be within easy reach for our students to study, undertake educational internships, and have practical training.
