Preparatory Department for Foreign Citizens

Study areas: Natural Sciences, Economics, Medicine and Biology, Engineering and Technology.

Duration: 1 year

Start of enrollment: June 1

Start of the program: September 1

The Preparatory Department also offers summer schools and courses.

The language of instruction for all the programs is Russian.

To master the language successfully, you should not only attend classes but also immerse yourself in the language environment – attend student events and speaking club meetings, subscribe to Russian-language social media, and, most importantly, practice on a regular basis and not be afraid of making mistakes.

What makes learning Russian difficult for international students is its phonetic (the sounds [ы] ([y]) and [щ] ([shch]), shifting word stress), grammatical (six cases, verb aspects, noun gender), and cultural features (idioms, communication standards).

Popular fields of study among international students

  • Agronomy
  • Landscape Architecture
  • Civil Engineering
  • Agricultural Engineering
  • Economics
  • Ecology and Natural Resource Management
  • Biotechnology

Training and internships

  • All the programs are practice-oriented. The university has extensive facilities including educational and experimental stations and field stations, a botanical garden, an experimental forest estate, an equestrian center, innovative laboratories, a meteorological observatory, and much more.
  • Students have the opportunity to undertake paid internships with the university’s partners.
  • Students participate in partners’ real-world projects and undertake internships at the industry’s leading enterprises.
  • The university supports startups: there are incubators and acceleration programs for student initiatives in agrotechnology and ecology. It also implements the Startup as a Diploma program.
  • The university provides students with an environment for comprehensive development: 13 comfortable dormitories, a well-developed sports infrastructure (including an equestrian center and a fitness center), and a creativity center that unites 25 teams.

State-funded international students get an academic scholarship. Its amount depends on their academic performance (2,000-5,000 RUB).
