Why do Indian Students Choose Russia and SPbSAU?

Russia is a rapidly developing country of the future. Russia has a rich culture and maintains long-standing friendly relations with India, and that’s why Indian students are eager to find out as much as possible about Russia and its traditions and language.

Students choose the university and fields of study (they mainly choose agriculture and civil engineering) based on their personal interest such as their family and relatives’ interest and place of residence in India.

Some students learned about SPbSAU from their friends or family members who had studied in Russia (in Moscow or Saint Petersburg) earlier. Others found it while searching the Internet for a university in the field of study they were interested in. Students are also attracted by the opportunities offered by the university and its location in Saint Petersburg.

Students like both the country itself and its people very much. The university itself is very beautiful and modern, and the teachers are very kind. Everybody is helpful and friendly. Moreover, the university is located in a beautiful and quiet green area. However, the city itself is located nearby, too.

Many students want to pursue Bachelor’s and Master’s programs after the preparatory faculty and live in Russia for a while.

Russian Language

Indian students find it hard to learn Russian. Grammar or memorizing new words and sounds are difficult for many of them. However, students try to find some language aspects that attract them. For example, some students really like the way the letters “Д” ([D]) or “Ж” [ZH] are written, while others try to compare Russian grammar with the grammar of their native language or English grammar, which can sometimes help.

Useful tip: be sure to study Russian hard, at least grammar and vocabulary, when you are still in India. This really helps you adapt to Russia faster. And always be open to new experiences.

Advantages

  • Employment at major enterprises in the Leningrad Region and the city of Saint Petersburg
  • Comfortable living environment in the university dormitories.
  • Student internships that are directly related to the future professions students choose
  • Extensive research activity (15 laboratories established jointly with business partners, university-wide research and educational laboratories, and a publishing and printing complex)
  • Intense international activity (cooperation with China, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, etc.)
