The St. Petersburg State University Centre for Open Education in the Republic of Uganda has launched a new cycle of academic programmes. The project, established to promote the Russian language and deepen understanding of Russian culture, is aimed at a broad audience, ranging from students and academic staff at Ugandan higher education institutions to anyone interested in exploring Russia’s rich heritage.
‘As part of the newly launched cycle of academic programmes, the classes are once again been designed for a broad audience, with 200 participants expected to join. Three educational courses, each comprising 36 academic hours, have been developed for them. In addition to learning Russian, participants will explore the country’s history, culture, traditions and contemporary life,’ said Andrei Lesin, Director of the Language Testing Centre at St. Petersburg State University.
Expanding the network of Centres for Open Education is one of the key areas of St. Petersburg State University’s international activities, contributing to the promotion of the Russian language abroad, the strengthening of humanitarian cooperation and the expansion of academic ties with foreign partners. Thanks to this initiative, residents of different countries have the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Russia, its cultural traditions, and the distinctive features of its higher education system.
