The Festival of Chinese culture and art “On the shores of Lake Baikal” was held at Irkutsk National Research Technical University on October 9 and 10, 2024. Irkutsk students from schools and universities, representatives of partner universities from China showed great interest in the event.
The program of the festival included watching Chinese movies, Tai Chi Chuan classes and an art fair. At the fair everyone could try themselves at Chinese calligraphy, traditional Chinese games, learn Jianzhi - the traditional art of cutting patterns out of paper, learn the secrets of tea ceremony, attend the master class “Face painting in the style of Beijing opera”, try on Hanfu national clothes and visit the art exhibition presented by participants from Russia and China.
Students also enjoyed a concert with Chinese songs and dances. Chinese group “Ice House” became the frequent guest of the festival playing their author charming songs.
This year the festival is timed to the 75th anniversary of the People's Republic of China. At the opening of the festival Mi Guixiong, Consul for Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China in Irkutsk, welcomed the participants.
The Festival of Chinese Culture and Art has become a good tradition at INRTU, it has been held annually since 2023 and is aimed at strengthening friendship between Russia and China.
