Programme presentation. Education in this programme is based on the combination of theoretical elucidation and practical experience at the partner enterprises. Availability of up-to-date material and technical facilities allows students to obtain professional knowledge and skills.

The focus on innovations is an integral part of the educational process: within academic and graduation works and theses the development of innovative projects for agro-industrial enterprises is carried out. For implementation of the projects the small innovative enterprise LLC “Research and Technical Centre InfotechAGRO”, SDB “Food Engineering and Public Catering” and the academic bureau “ABRIS” have been established.

Teaching staff. The Department has strong international links. The teachers cooperate with DonetskNationalUniversity participating in the International research and technical conference “MachineBuilding and Technosphere of the XXI Century” (Sevastopol) and with the publishing house of the journal “Meat Processing” (Ukraine). Teachers attend international seminars on technological equipment for public catering enterprises and organize educational internship platforms in the sphere of specialists’ training for public catering with a visit to the manufacturing factory and the university in Helsinki (Finland).

Competitiveness of students. The HEI holds a lot of events aimed at the formation of students’ interest in future professional activity. Carrying out the Specialty Days, meetings with leading specialists and researchers, contests for the best academic group ensure high motivation of students. Besides, the students successfully take part in research, which is evidenced by the diplomas of international and interregional exhibitions and fairs: “National Security–2013”, “Prodmarket”, “PenzAGRO”, “Penza Brand”, “Energy Efficiency and Conservation”, “100 Best Goods of Russia”, etc.

Interaction with employers. Sustainable relations are established with industrial enterprises of Penza and the region. The Department is created at JSC “Penza Confectionery”, which makes the educational process as close as possible to the actual production conditions and thereby ensures the enhancement of the quality of specialists’ and Bachelors’ training.
