Current position in rankings. The university is ranked 11th among HEIs of Saint Petersburg and 50th among HEIs of the Russian Federation according to Forbes. The university was ranked 14th among technical HEIs of Russia according to quality monitoring of state-funded enrollment in Russian HEIs in 2018 and 42th according to the Ranking of Demand for Higher Education Institutions in the Russian Federation – 2018. The graduates’ employment rate is 89.4%.
Achievements and awards. According to experts, this educational program has been ranked among the best programs as part of the all-Russian project Best Educational Programs of Innovative Russia since 2016.
Teaching staff. The educational process is implemented by the highly qualified specialists of the department including one Professor, five Associate Professors, three Senior Teachers. Leading practitioners in the field of applied art production are engaged in the teaching process. The scientific school under the direction of L.T. Zhukova is listed in the Register of leading scientific and academic schools of the Committee for Science and Higher Education of Saint Petersburg.
Research. The main area of research conducted within this educational program is creation of flash exposure objects using modern techniques of applied arts and computer technologies.
Strategic partners. The department has concluded cooperation agreements with Kalashnikov Izhevsk State Technical University, B.I. Stepanov Institute of Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (Belarus), Academy of Design (Sweden), the Delcam firm (Great Britain).
International projects and programs. Under the agreement with the Estonian Academy of Arts annual scholarships are awarded to the university students for studies and the implementation of creative projects. The university actively develops the Finnish-Russian student exchange program FIRST that provides an opportunity for students to undertake study placement and pre-graduation internship in English with a scholarship at the universities of Finland. The teachers give master classes at the universities of Finland and Sweden, participate in exhibitions and scientific conferences.
Competitive advantages. The teaching staff is highly professional. The university provides training at all education levels including postgraduate studies. The university publishes three leading scientific journals on applied arts and handicrafts.
