Teaching staff. Bachelor students are trained in four majors: Advertising Design; Graphic Design in Art Space; Graphic Design in Multimedia; Animation and Graphics for Computer Games. The department staff includes eight Candidates of Sciences and one Doctor of Sciences. The teachers are designers currently employed at major advertising agencies, Russian and foreign companies. Most of them have academic degrees and titles, are members of the Union of Artists of Russia, the Union of Designers of Russia, laureates and diploma winners of creative contests and festivals. Students are trained by professionals such as well-known journalists and editors, employees of TV channels, animation studios “Smeshariki,” "White Ball," etc. The teachers' creative works are a part of collections of the Russian Museum, the Constantine Palace, the State Historical Museum of Russia, galleries such as “Blaues Haus” in Fehrbellin, Hotel Resort Mark Brandenburg (Germany) as well as private collections of Germany, France, Spain, the USA, and Israel.

Facilities and resources.The university has classrooms and specialized classrooms with state-of-the-art equipment, computer classrooms with Macintosh computers, graphic tablets and LCD TVs; the video- and motion picture studio with green screen and video production equipment; the creative design and composition workshop; the typography workshop with a digital printing machine (for color printing of books and brochures) and a plotter (for large format color printing); the printmaking workshop with an etching press and a printing press; the art studio with a 3D printer for creating 3D models; classrooms for painting and drawing; lecture halls and a training aids department with a network attached storage, and the museum with an exhibition of creative projects of the institute.

Strategic partners. As part of internships, work and study placements and implementation of creative projects the Institute of Graphic Design closely interacts with district administrations of Saint Petersburg, cultural, creative, social institutions and organizations such as relevant committees of the Saint Petersburg Government, the Legislative Assembly of Saint Petersburg, etc. Students undertake their work placement at cultural and educational institutions, museums, various advertising agencies of Saint Petersburg and Moscow. As part of international exchange and master classes in the field of design the institute cooperates with Saimaa University of Applied Sciences (Finland), Glyndwr University, John Leggott College (Great Britain), Free University of Bozen-Bolzano (Italy), Berlin University of Arts, the Estonian Academy of Arts, etc.
