Awards and achievements. The teachers implement RFBR grants: "Ecological Regulation of the Biosynthesis of Flavonoids and Anthocyanins of Evergreen Plants of Swamp Ecosystems of the Middle Ob region," "Monitoring of the State of Riding Bogs in the Conditions of the Oil and Gas Industry." The students are the winners of the Best Student Article international contest, all-Russian contest "Russia: the Environment," a scholarship contest by V. Vernadsky Non-Governmental Ecology Foundation, Federal Internet Exam for Bachelors.
Teaching staff. Along with Professors and Assistant Professors of the Department, representatives of the professional community are involved in teaching — managers and specialists of oil and gas companies, scientific, research and project organizations of KhmAO-Yugra.
Facilities and resources. Laboratories of biology, general ecology, ecology of microorganisms and ecology of lower plants, ecology of higher plants, human physiology and ecology, chemistry, physical and chemical research are fitted with state-of-the-art equipment such as chromatograph, atomic absorption spectrometer, concentration meters, spectrophotometer, voltammetric complex, liquid analyzer.
Research. The students carry out research work in the following directions: "Ecological and Physiological Mechanisms of Plant Adaptation;" "Human Adaptation in the Conditions of the Northern Territories;" "Biological Diversity, Biological Resources and Environmental Monitoring of KhMAO-Yugra;" "Environmental Safety of Oil and Gas Regions."
Strategic partners. In cooperation with the JAMK University of Applied Sciences (Jyväskylä, Finland) and the University of Barcelona, projects of the European Commission program are implemented. Cooperation with NK Rosneft, Gazprom. A branch of the Department of Ecology was established at the Scientific Research Center "Yugraneftegaz" of Nizhnevartovsk.
International projects and programs. The students take part in ISInCAR — International Scientific Integration of Early Career Researchers project which is supported as part of the contest held by the British Embassy in Moscow and General Consulate in Yekaterinburg, aimed at implementing joint Russian-British initiatives. The project is targeted at improving the quality of scientific research, promoting the transfer of knowledge and the introduction of intercultural exchange in the community of young researchers. The Department also takes part in the Erasmus+ ICM academic mobility program for students and teachers for 2020-2030 in cooperation with the Department of Ecology and Environmental Sciences of the University of Barcelona.
