Accreditation. The programs successfully underwent state accreditation in 2020.
Awards and achievements. Journalism students are winners and prize-winners of regional, all-Russian and international contests (“The Best News Agency,” “I am a Professional,” “Internet Communication Leaders,” and others), holders of the Vladimir Potanin Foundation scholarship, A. Solzhenitsyn personal scholarship. As part of the program, students defend integrated graduation theses and graduation theses in the format of startups applied in regional mass media’s practical activities. For example, the graduation thesis “The Conceptual Model of the Regional TV channel Caucasus 24: Practical Development” was used in the Caucasus 24 TV channel’s work. Students take part in the top research conferences (“International Conference “Lomonosov,” “Science of the Future – Science of the Young,” and others).
Teaching staff. Training is provided by one Professor, 11 Candidates of Sciences (five of whom have an academic title of Associate Professor), employers, and professional partners.
Facilities and resources. NCFU has facilities and resources for all types of classes specified in the educational standard. The modern training TV and broadcasting studio allows students to acquire TV and radio journalism skills. Students do research at the Stavropol Journalism History Museum. Computer classrooms allow them to acquire online mass media skills. Some classes are conducted at STRBC Stavropolye.
Education. Classes are conducted offline and online on the BigBlueButton platform and in the LMS Moodle system. State-of-the-art technologies, including distance technologies such as workshops, case study, e-learning, interactive research internships, project implementation, etc. are used in the educational process.
Competitive advantages. In addition to the traditional learning process management formats, teachers use innovative formats (flipped classroom, coworking, workshops, etc.) and types of distant interaction with students. Since 2019, the institute has been delivering the Master’s program in Online Journalism and Video Blogging for training all-round journalists capable of working both as a member of the convergent editorial staff and independently. The Bachelor’s program disciplines focus on the preparation of journalists for working in mass media taking into account the innovations being introduced. In 2022, the department is introducing a new major – Digital Content for Creative Industries in tune with the modern media industry trends. In cooperation with the branch of STRBC Stavropolye, the institute established the specialized department of TV and radio journalism. Students are engaged in the TV company’s business performance. Work placement allows students to acquire mass media skills and find a job while studying. The department’s training TV and radio studio has a typhlolaboratory where students create the content for visually impaired children.
Employers and employment. Some disciplines are taught by leading journalists of Stavropol. Students and graduates work as editorial staff in regional and federal mass media.
