Programme presentation. Graduates of the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes in “Information Security” of the North-Caucasus Federal University are specialists who are demanded and competitive at the labour market and are capable of applying advanced up-to-date technologies of information protection. As a rule, they work in various public and commercial organizations of the Stavropol region, among which there are public and self-government authorities, financial and credit institutions, medium and large industrial and commercial enterprises as well as companies specializing in the production of goods and services in the field of IT and information security.

Teaching staff. More than 80% of teachers in specialized disciplines have academic degrees and titles. The average age of the staff is 43 years. For their achievements many teachers have been awarded honorary diplomas of the Ministry of Communications, the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Defence of the RF as well as state award the “Suvorov Medal”, merit button badge “Honoured Radio Officer” and award pin “Honoured Worker of Higher Professional Education of the RF”.

The research work of the teaching staff resulted in obtaining 93 patents, registering 81 software products, publishing 144 papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals and issuing 12 monographs.

Competitiveness of students. The average passing grade of applicants, enrolled in 2013, in the Unified State Exam was 187. Future Bachelors and Masters in Information Security undergo international internships and successfully take part in professional contests. Every year a number of students are awarded personal grants of the President and the Government of the RF, the Governor and Government of the Stavropol region and the Potanin fund.

Interaction with employers. The educational programme is approved and reviewed by the regional employers. Moreover, the leading specialists in information security have been involved in the programme’s development. In cooperation with partners the University and the Major Department annually conduct conferences, master-classes, lectures and professional skill contests at both national and international level.
