Programme presentation. Bachelor-degree graduates are enrolled in specialized Master’s programme through competition. Entrance trials are conducted in the form of multidiscipline Internet-testing.

In the course of studies, the students acquire competencies in the field of rational use of natural resources; technological, economic and social aspects of atmosphere, water and soil pollution by the country’s industrial enterprises; students gain knowledge of the mod-ern approaches and methods of ecological management.

The students attend laboratory practicum at the G.K. Boreskov Institute of Catalysis of the Siberian Branch of the RussianAcademy of Sciences. The training on sophisticated equipment is provided by highly qualified specialists – Doctors and Candidates of Sciences working part-time at the Department. They also supervise master-degree students’ research work.

Competitiveness of students. The students during their course of studies take part in implementing federal and international projects and present the results of their re-search work at the national and international conferences.

Currently, there is an agreement between NovosibirskStateTechnicalUniversity and S. Toraigyrov Pavlodar State University (Kazakhstan) on joint degree Master’s training in Technological Environment Safety study field within the Programme of Engineering Protection of the Environment.

There are favourable conditions at the Department to acquire supplementary competencies allowing the graduates to gain competitive advantage at the labour market. Master-degree students actively apply the latest approaches in the sphere of implementing innovation developments. The students are in demand as monitoring, industrial and ecological safety specialists at the enterprises; as design specialists developing the sections of projects relating to safety matters; as specialists of service and maintenance sphere for instalment, trials, adjustment and maintenance of the environment protective devices.

Many young specialists proceed with their studies taking a postgraduate course and then get involved in active research.
