Programme presentation. The Programme is implemented in two specialties: “Shipbuilding” and “Ship Power Plants”. The Programme trains specialists in civil and military shipbuilding, which includes passenger motor-ships, submarines and surface ships, hydrofoil ships, air-cushion ships and airfoil vessels, vessels and sea constructions, which are used in ice, including gas- and oil-mining drilling platforms, power complexes of marine facilities (major and support power equipment, marine systems and crew life-support systems). The Department has in place the laboratory of development of Arctic and inner waterways of Russia, ice and wave model basins, ship-models building workshops, a cli-mate chamber, a laboratory of shipbuilding technology, a centre of hybrid engineering. There is a students’ design bureau “Corvette” and research experimental design bureau “Lyod-NN”. The Department cooperates with the national leading research schools of ship-building: Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Research Centre Krylovsky”, St. Petersburg State Marine Technical University, Far Eastern Federal University and Kaliningrad State Technical University.
Teaching staff. The Department’s teaching staff includes experienced teachers, recognized experts in the sphere of shipbuilding Doctors and Candidates of Sciences (V.A. Zuev, E.M. Gramuzov, V.I. Rudnitsky, N.V. Kalinina, Y.A. Dvoichenko, E.V. Sadekova and others), as well as the Department’s young employees (A.G. Larin, D.A. Semyonov, V.V. Krapivin,N.M. Semyonova).
Interaction with employers. The Department accepts students by orders from the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and trains specialists on the contract basis. In order to conduct lectures and master-classes the Department invites leading specialists of design and review enterprises – OJSC “Design Bureau “Vympel” (CEO – V.V. Shatalov, chief designers Y.N. Rabazov, A.S. Rechitsky), Russian Register (leading research associate V.P. Lobastov), OJSC “Central Design Bureau “Lazurit” (chief engineer A.V. Morozov), OJSC “Alekseev Central Design Bureau of Ships on Hydrofoil Wings” (chief designer V.N. Kirillovyh) and other companies. 100% of graduation theses are developed by orders of industrial enterprises.
