Teaching staff. This program is implemented by 18 departments of the university that employ over 150 teachers, 80% of whom have academic degrees of Doctors and Candidates of Sciences. The degree-granting department within the program is the Department of Biotechnology.
Facilities and resources. The equipment of classrooms and laboratories meets current requirements (interactive boards, multimedia equipment, etc.), there are computer classrooms, a library. The departments have state-of-the-art laboratory analytical and process equipment. The university established the Department of Immunobiotechnology at the premises of Saint Petersburg Research Institute of Vaccines and Serums and the Department of Technology of Recombinant Proteins in cooperation with the BIOCAD innovative biotechnology company. The departments provide practical training for students.
Research. As part of this educational program the teachers conduct research in the field of development of technologies, methods for extracting and purifying biologically active substances produced by microbiological synthesis; obtaining and studying the pharmacological effect of biologically active substances (BAS) in order to produce innovative medicines.
Education. The teachers use the learning process management systems based on the Moodle learning management system intended for performance and control of students' independent work and current control of their knowledge. New materials are updated and added taking into account the changes in steering documents.
Strategic partners. Particular attention is paid to practical training of students so the university maintains contacts with biopharmaceutical companies such as BIOCAD, Geropharm, Samson-Med, and others.
International projects and programs. The university implements a wide range of innovative educational projects with the world's top international pharmaceutical companies such as Pfizer, Novartis, Abbott, etc. Students have an opportunity to attend educational modules offered by companies' specialists in the form of lectures, hands-on classes, master classes. Upon completion of the educational module students take a test and are interviewed. The students with better scores undertake summer work placements at pharmaceutical enterprises located in
Competitive advantages. This program is a unique training program for specialists of the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Graduates are always in great demand on the labor market.
