Awards and achievements. The program successfully underwent state accreditation in 2020. The RFBR grants, the grants of the RF President for young scientists; the state assignments of the RF Ministry of Science and Higher Education to universities, the Stavropol Territory Governor Award for young scientists and specialists.

Teaching staff. The academic degree holders ratio is 96%. The department employs nine Doctors and 21 Candidates of Sciences. The RAS Academician and the representatives of major organizations and enterprises are invited as teachers.

Facilities and resources. The astrophysical observatory with a digital weather station, REC of geophysics and astrophysics, the problem-based research laboratory of magnetic nanomaterials, electro- and magnetooptics of magnetic disperse nanosystems, structural units of the Radiophysics and Radioelectronics student research society, Atmosphere Physics and Environmental Monitoring; Astrophysics; Physics of Nanocolloids.

Research. The faculty conducts intensive research. The laboratories are equipped with unique units for integrated research on the physical properties of substances, computer equipment. Promising research: physics of magnetic nanocolloids; optics of disperse nanomaterials; physicochemical hydrodynamics; thermal physics and molecular physics; global atmosphere dynamics; regional climate modeling.

Education. Teachers use state-of-the-art educational technologies: multimedia lectures, case technologies, business games and role plays, the project method, round table discussions, etc.

Strategic partners. The Special Astrophysical Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Stavropol Territorial Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring Center, Monocrystal, a leading supplier of sapphire, the High-Mountain Geophysical Institute, the Institute of Mechanics of Lomonosov Moscow State University, University of Latvia.

International projects and programs. The joint project with the University of Ljubljana is implemented under the Erasmus+ program. The university organizes and holds international scientific conferences: "Innovative Methods and Research Tools in the Area of Atmospheric Physics, Hydrometeorology, Ecology and Climate Change," "Physicochemical and Applied Problems of Magnetic Disperse Nanosystems."

Competitive advantages. Long-term field internships, an opportunity to take a semester study placement at another Russian or foreign university, to pursue Master's and PhD degrees.
