Awards and achievements. The program successfully underwent state accreditation in 2020. The RFBR grants, the grants of the RF President for young scientists; the state assignments of the RF Ministry of Science and Higher Education to universities, the Stavropol Territory Governor Award for young scientists and specialists.
Teaching staff. The academic degree holders ratio is 96%. The department employs nine Doctors and 21 Candidates of Sciences. The RAS Academician and the representatives of major organizations and enterprises are invited as teachers.
Facilities and resources. The astrophysical observatory with a digital weather station, unique physical laboratories, REC of geophysics and astrophysics, a problem-based research laboratory of magnetic nanomaterials, electro- and magnetooptics of magnetic disperse systems.
Research. Promising areas: effect of surface phenomena on the processes of interaction between magnetic colloids and their composites and an electromagnetic field; structural and dynamic processes and related characteristics of magnetic, electric and rheological properties of magnetic colloids and composite materials based on them; global atmosphere dynamics; regional climate modeling.
Education. The program aims to train professionals who have extensive knowledge in the field of physical and mathematical sciences and are capable of doing research in various areas of contemporary physics, teach at professional and higher education institutions.
Strategic partners. The Special Astrophysical Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Stavropol Territorial Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring Center, Observatory, the High-Mountain Geophysical Institute, the Signal radio manufacturing plant, the Institute of Continuous Media Mechanics of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Science, Ivanovo Power Engineering University, University of Latvia.
International projects and programs. The joint project with the University of Ljubljana is implemented under the Erasmus+ program.
Competitive advantages. Training is provided in close cooperation with top manufacturing enterprises and research institutions. Their professional knowledge and skills, research competencies allow graduates to work at academic and industrial research institutes, laboratories of industrial enterprises, in the field of business. Graduates have an opportunity to pursue a PhD degree.
Assistance and support for international students and teachers. NCFU seeks international cooperation for sharing experience in physics in various areas of research and education, internships for students and PhD students.
