Foreign citizens are eligible for higher education at FESTU:

• in state-funded places under international agreements of the Russian Federation
• in state-funded places within the Russian Government quota
• under agreements on paid educational services using the funds of individuals or legal entities

Students get scholarships for academic excellence, scientific, creative and sports achievements, and active participation in student self-government.

In 2024, the FESTU Summer School used new methods of teaching Russian for the first time:

• Learning the language through familiarization with Russian cuisine and the traditions of Russian hospitality (with tasting of ethnic foods).
• Learning the language using music (rhythm in music as well as repeating patterns in songs facilitate memorization of unknown words).
