Saint Petersburg is my favorite city. I dreamed of visiting it, and I would never have thought that I would live here. I started searching the web for the best universities for design and architecture, and the University of Industrial Technologies and Design was among the top universities in all the rankings I found.

International Student Adaptation Center
The university ensures a comfortable learning and living environment, as well as the adaptation of international students to new cultural traditions.
Jointly with the Adapters program, the Center holds roundtable discussions, organizes the work with other student associations of the university, speaking clubs, tours, and helps students to comply with the requirements of the Russian Federation legislation on migration registration and visa services, and provides assistance in language adaptation.
Students have access to:
- The Laboratory of Virtual Fashion and Digital Design where students and laboratory residents model a digital wardrobe, create avatars and metaworlds for the embodiment of digital developments in virtual reality, and perform production digitalization tasks.
- The Coordinate Modern Design Space. The project has no rival in Russia. Design objects are not only exhibited but also studied with respect to their historical transformations and changes in concepts, approaches and technologies. Exhibits are archived, in digital form in particular.
- In the heart of Saint Petersburg, the university is developing the SmartDesign Digital Industrial Design Cluster. The cluster comprises the Laboratory of Virtual Fashion and Digital Design, the Laboratory of Spatial Design of Physical and Digital Environments, the Laboratory of Digital Art and New Media, the Laboratory of Smart Clothing, the Laboratory of Generative Design, and exhibition areas.
All international full-time students are accommodated in the dormitory for the entire study period.

I felt at home for the first time when I came to the International Student Adaptation Center of our university. I take part in its events, for example, Africa Day and the celebration of Easter on a regular basis. We made a movie about the feeling of loneliness together. And now this is not just the Center for me, this is my family. I help other international students too.
I came to Russia in February. Before that, I saw snow only in the fridge. I had warm clothes but they were not fit for Russian winter, and my shoes always slid. And then, I found out that people bathe in such weather as well. First, they go to a bathhouse and then dive in cold water. Besides, Russian people are a little reserved, but I know how to connect with them. Russians are very cheerful. If you cheer them up, they can smile. And if they smile, you see that they do it from the bottom of their heart.

In the beginning, I felt embarrassed to ask questions during the lectures. It was difficult for me to say what exactly I didn’t understand because I studied Russian in my home country. Nevertheless, after classes my teachers and fellow students explained to me patiently what we had learned. I couldn’t understand everything even then, but I was pleased that they were sparing me their time. I felt their desire to motivate me to study, and this gave strength to me. I would advise other international students to feel free to ask questions and not to be afraid of making mistakes, otherwise you will not be able to better yourself.
I study cyberattacks on databases. Every company has its own databases storing important information, including personal data of the site users, and that is why hackers attack them on a regular basis. In general, I am interested not only in how information can be protected but also in how it can be stolen. In the future, I would like to work in this field as a freelancer and hack servers or databases of different companies at their request to test their security.
