Every year Astrakhan State Technical University holds Africa Week, an event where African students familiarize their Russian friends with the culture and traditions of their countries. This year, Africa Week at ASTU began with a spectacular festival in the lounge of the main building. Students from Morocco, Egypt, Benin, Cameroon, Mauritania, Angola, Chad, Zimbabwe, and other countries of the hot continent presented their national costumes, traditional foods, and popular craft items. Lively dances, traditional beats, and folk songs created an unforgettable festive atmosphere. Anyone interested could join the event.
Irina Yuryevna Kvyatkovskaya, Vice-Rector for Academic and International Affairs at ASTU, noted that the first international student came to ASTU exactly 70 years ago, and now students from 31 African countries are studying here.
Irina Yuryevna extended the festival greetings to the international students and wished them excellent academic performance.
As part of the Africa Week, the university held the Africa Cup Football Championship and the roundtable discussion “Development of Africa through Education, Science, Innovation”, and a chain of events ended with a solemn concert in the ASTU Red Hall.
