Pushkin Leningrad State University is a unique multidisciplinary innovative research and education center developing the traditions of academic science and education. High-quality teaching at the university, research projects and scientific schools, and researchers’ competence have been recognized at Russian and international levels.

PLSU boasts a well-developed modern educational and research infrastructure. The educational process is delivered using state-of-the-art technologies. If necessary, international students are accommodated in the dormitory.

Admission

1,430 state-funded places for Russian and foreign citizens.

The application process starts on June 20.

You can submit your documents in person or online via Applicant’s Personal Account.

The list of required documents:

  • Application for admission
  • Personal data processing consent
  • Document proving your identity and citizenship
  • Certificate on education (legalized, if necessary)
  • 2 photos (3×4)

NB! All documents must be accompanied by their notarized translations into Russian if the documents are written in a foreign language / the information in the documents is not duplicated in Russian.

Entrance exams

When applying on a contract (fee-paying) basis, international applicants take one entrance exam:

  • Bachelor’s programs – Russian language test and interview. They may also submit the results of their Unified State Exam or Test of Russian as a Foreign Language.
  • Master’s programs – major subject test

Entrance exams are held online.

After students pass the entrance exam, they must conclude the educational services payment agreement and pay for the first semester until the end of August.

Internships

While studying, students undertake numerous internships with an option to choose a traineeship institution. This provides them with the opportunity to gain work experience at various organizations while studying and to choose the one that suits their interests best.

Students get grants to implement their ideas on a regular basis:

  • The grant was awarded to the project "Pushkin LSU Open Cup" aimed at improving the knowledge and skills of Saint Petersburg and Leningrad Region students in phygital sports and creating a platform to practice them.
  • Students have developed an open youth space called LSUworking to support youth initiatives and unleash their creative potential.

Cooperation with foreign universities

Every year the university concludes mutual cooperation agreements with foreign universities, which provides the opportunity to:

  • participate in academic mobility programs
  • share cultural experience with the representatives of foreign universities and colleges

Scholarship

All state-funded students have the opportunity to get an increased scholarship (for academic excellence after the first academic semester) and a social scholarship (if there are any relevant circumstances and documents).

The university has the Career Center that helps students and graduates in job search and with resume, cover letter and interview preparation.

Adaptation

The International Office staff provides comprehensive support:

  • information support at all stages of admission and studying at the university
  • on legitimate residency in the Russian Federation
  • on getting health insurance 
  • dormitory accommodation support

International applicants, who want to improve their level of Russian language proficiency, can take Russian language courses after they are enrolled at LSU (if there are 10-12 people in a group).

The International Office holds cultural meetings and events on a regular basis.

The university organizes joint events with consulates, embassies, and compatriot associations.
