The capital of the Krasnodar Territory, the city of Krasnodar, is a major economic and cultural center in the North Caucasus and the Southern Federal District, is located on the right bank of the Kuban River. Krasnodar is also called the capital of the South of Russia. It is located 1,300 km south of Moscow – approximately 1.5 hours by plane.

In Krasnodar, summers are hot and long (they last from May to September) and winters are moderately warm (they last approximately from the middle of January till the end of February).

Krasnodar is famous for its picturesque streets, green parks and cozy public gardens that create a cozy and quiet atmosphere. The city is buried in verdure, and its residents are proud of numerous avenues and gardens. One of the most popular places is Krasnodar Park, which has become the true pearl of the city thanks to its modern design. The park infrastructure comprises cafés and restaurants, an amphitheater showing movies in summer, fountains, a skate park, water bodies with fish, mirror, musical and water mazes, and many other things.

Ski resorts

In the Krasnodar Territory, you will find the warm Black Sea, sunny beaches, and magnificent ski resorts that attract winter sports enthusiasts from all over Russia and the world. In the foothills of the Caucasus Mountains, there are several popular ski resorts that offer excellent conditions for skiing, snowboarding, and other winter activities.

Krasnaya Polyana is the most famous ski resort in Russia that became popular after the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. It has several ski areas, including Rosa Khutor and Gazprom. The resort offers pistes of different difficulty levels, which makes it an ideal place both for beginners and experienced skiers. Here you can ride a bike, a quad bike, a scooter, and a drag bike. Guests can also fly a balloon, a paraplane, or a helicopter.

Rosa Khutor is a ski resort with the longest network of pistes in Russia – they are 105 km long. There is enough entertainment to suit any taste here. You can taste local cuisine in cozy restaurants and enjoy evening walks around the resort.

The Gazprom Mountain Tourist Center is famous for its diverse pistes and modern ropeway lifts. At the center, you can fly a paraplane or a paratrike, ride a snowmobile, or try snowtubing. The center has a year-round waterpark with an outdoor swimming pool that offers a fascinating view of the mountains.

  • The region’s main feature is the diversity of its landscape. Here you can find high mountains with extensive forests, glaciers, rivers flowing through mountain gorges, boundless steppes, and caves.
  • Novorossiysk Sea Port, located in the Krasnodar Territory, is the largest port in Russia.

Sochi is the longest city in Europe and Russia as well as the second longest in the world after Mexico. The city stretches for 148 km.

The Bolshoy Utrish attraction is Russia's only open-air dolphinarium, located in the natural sea lagoon. The dolphins live and perform in the natural environment, and spectators watch the show from the platform on the shore.

In the entire Krasnodar Territory there are around 2,000 dolmens. Dolmens are ancient structures used as burial chambers or as places of worship. They are classified as megaliths (large stone structures).

The Lotus Valley is a unique natural site in the Krasnodar Territory. This man-made attraction is a water garden dotted with Indian lotuses.

The Safari Park in Krasnodar is the only private safari in Russia. The park with an area of 10 ha is inhabited by 250 animal and bird species. In the park, you can visit the pinnipeds theater and the dinosaur park.
