Programme presentation. Education and training of Bachelors is carried out in two profiles: “Electricity” and “Electric Drive and Automation”.

The education process is conducted using 8 research laboratories which are equipped with modern stands and facilities. A lot of practical training allows students to learn the principles of electricity and the features of electric drive of various technical objects.

All-Russian and international exhibitions are visited in order to obtain up-to-date professional information in the area of training. The knowledge gained is used in course papers and graduate qualification works.

Students also take part in seminars which are carried out by the leading companies in the field of electric power industry.

Teaching staff. There are 54 members of teaching staff including 4 Doctors and 19ˇCandidates of Sciences. Since 2010, the staff of the Department have obtained about 20ˇawards, published four monographs in all scientific areas and published 29 articles in the journals, which are recommended by the HAC.

16 areas of research are applied. The developments are initiated by operating enterprises of oil and gas industry and therefore are implemented or are recommended for implementation in practice.

Competitiveness of students. The minimum passing grade according to the results of the Unified State Examination was 117 in 2011, 119 in 2012 and 125 in 2013.

Students take part in different educational, research and practical events and conferences, hold personal grants and are repeated winners of various Olympiads and contests (International tournament of natural sciences, grant competition for student research sup-port, regional grant competition “U.M.N.I.K”, etc.)

At the present time, 9 students from CIS countries are trained: four students from Kazakhstan, two students from Tajikistan, one student from Ukraine, one from Uzbekistan and one from Armenia.

Interaction with employers. In order to engage the best students, representatives of the leading companies carry out presentations, trainings, master-classes, take part in the creation of laboratories. In particular, heads of the major profile companies are members and chairs of the State Attestation Commission for the defence of graduate qualification works. The Department cooperates with JSC “Fortum”, JSC “Suenko”, JSC “Tyumenenergo”, JSC “Neftemash”, JSC “Sibnefteprovod”, JSC NIPI “Neftegazproekt” and other enterprises.
