Accreditation. State and professional-public accreditation.

Awards and achievements. Every year students get the Russian President and the Russian Government Scholarships. Their research is supported by numerous grants from the Committee for Science and Higher Education of the Saint Petersburg Government, the UMNIK All-Russian Contest, the International Society of Automation (ISA) and the International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE). Students traditionally become winners and prize-winners of the annual European ISA Contest for the best student research paper. Bachelor’s students take an active part in the WorldSkills Russia championships in the FutureSkills competencies and have gold, silver and bronze medals.

Teaching staff. Teachers work at Russian and international scientific projects, are laureates of the Russian President awards and the Saint Petersburg Government awards, winners of international competitions, conduct research as part of the grants from the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, the Russian Science Foundation, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, have unique competencies. Five teachers were awarded the titles of Honored Worker of Higher Professional Education of the RF. Facilities and resources. The department is fitted with state-of-the-art high-tech equipment, benches, projection and presentation equipment, modern computers, including blade servers and workstation class Elbrus 401-РС and Elbrus-801-РС with Elbrus 4.4 server, has specialized software in the field of virtual and augmented reality, industrial automation, artificial intelligence, computer vision, open-ended systems. Education. The departments provides intensive training for specialists in data processing, digital realities, telecommunications, distributed networked systems, multisensor systems, AI systems, enterprise systems administration, cloud technologies, and the use of open information technologies. Research. The main areas are antinoise coding, distributed systems theory, digital reality technologies, open-ended systems, multisensor identification systems.

Competitive advantages. Graduates are highly qualified and sought after in IT, research, production and administration, services at federal agencies. The department supports students’ participation in international competitions, conferences, and hackathons.

Employers and employment. Graduates are in demand at Concern Granit-Electron, ELCUS Electronic Company, Concern Morinformsistema-Agat, the Leninets research and production center, the Orion special design office, LOMO, ASK Laboratory, Jupiter Design Office, St. Petersburg Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Yandex, VK, and other organizations.
