Programme presentation. Training of specialists in this educational programme is based on the international and professional approach to social work. Graduates of the programme work as social work managers, intermediaries between country, business and society, social issues experts and social services specialists. The programme takes into consideration regional specific features of the labour market not only of the Siberian Region of Russia but also of The Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Department together with the Ministry of Social Development of the Novosibirsk region and the Novosibirsk Mayor’s Office develops and implements an innovative model of a prevention system of social orphanage, quality assessment model of social services to family and children, assessment model of effectiveness of social protection and social service institutions. In recent years the University has fruitfully cooperated with American sociologists who give regular master classes and lectures for students.

Teaching staff. The teaching staff of the Department including 2 Doctors and 10 Candidates of Sciences is recognized at the level of administration of the Novosibirsk egion. Teachers take part in the activities of social, municipal and government institutions.

Competitiveness of students. In the course of education students study the following programmes: family mediation, case-management, fundraising and assessment methods of quality of social services. They take active part in research projects of the Department and are among the top 5 best students in the All-Russian Students’ Olympiad in “Social work”.

Interaction with employers. The Department maintains and develops cooperation with the Regional Resource Centre “Semya” and The Conflictology Research and Studies Centre. It concluded over 50 agreements with social organizations and founded 5 research and methodological testing sites.

For many years the Department together with the Ministry of Social Development of the Novosibirsk region and the Department of Social Policy of the Novosibirsk Mayor’s Office has been holding conferences, round tables and presentations of innovative technologies to deal with social issues. Well-established contacts allow students to obtain employment in civil service, municipal centres of social service of the population, charity funds and business companies.
