Programme presentation. Research and project activity of students of the “Tourism” training programme is carried out within the framework of Inter-HEI academic laboratory of tourist-recreational clusters and students’ research scientific group “InnovationTerritory”. The DTR students have an access to the University’s stocks of academic, methodological literature and periodicals, electronic library systems, database of full-text multipurpose reference information, foreign scientific resources.

For the purpose of academic mobility of students the VRSUS signed the agreements of international academic scientific cultural cooperation with the leading home and foreign HEIs: Lomonosov Moscow State University, Russian State University of Tourism and Service, Orenburg State Pedagogical University, Omsk State Institute of Service, Don State Technical University, Academy of Tourism in Antalya (Turkey), International Institute of Tourism (Switzerland, Malta campus), Angelo Roth Institute (Italy), Catholic University of Italy, Raineri-Marcora Institute (Italy).

Teaching staff. VRSUS leading researchers and the heads of tourist enterprises are involved in the academic process. About 80% of the teaching staff has scientific degrees and titles, including three Doctors of Science. VRSUS invites lecturers from Italy, France, and Mexico as visiting professors.

Competitiveness of students. The average passing grade of the entering programme is 79. The DTR students regularly win Olympiads and competitions of different levels: the regional Olympiad “Life Protection: Safety in Tourism” (Omsk), the regional competition of graduation theses in tourism (Togliatti), interregional competition Turiada (Khvalynsk), project competition “Development of Tourism in the Contemporary World: History and Prospects” (Antalya, Turkey) and others.

Interaction with the employers. The partnership agreements of the Department with the state and municipal authorities, leading organizations of tourism industry play an important role in the academic process. The educational, working and pre-graduation students’ practice is carried out in the. Tourism Department of Samara Region, the Togliatti City Hall, the Zhiguli National Park, the National Park “Samara Luka”, OJSC “Togliatti-Tour”, OJSC “Pilgrim”, the Non-Profit Partnership “Tourist Information Centre”, OJSC “Samara-Intour” and other organizations.
