Accreditation. State accreditation (2021), professional-public accreditation (2022).

Achievements. The program was recognized as one of the best educational programs of innovative Russia in 2022. Students participate in various events such as ZooProfi, Science 0+, WorldSkills, and Agroforum.

Teaching staff. Training is provided by the highly qualified academic staff having many years’ experience in personnel training. The program is delivered by Doctors of Sciences, Professors and Candidates of Sciences, Associate Professors. The department staff takes an active part in research: more than 400 research papers have been published, and 3-5 instructional guides are issued every year.

Facilities and resources include the animal farm, the VITA animal clinic, the sports and training center for horse breeding, and the Shchetinkino instructional farm in the Balakhtinsky District. The department has the laboratories of milk technology and meat, fish and beekeeping products processing. Classrooms have visual aids, TV and video equipment, which provides additional scientific and methodological information for all students, including people with disabilities.

Education. Students study biological characteristics of all species of farm animals (productive and non-productive), including poultry, animals, bees, fish; processes of production and primary processing of animal products; feeds and feed additives and their production processes.

Research. Every year the teachers speak at all-Russian, regional and international research and practice and methodology conferences and seminars and participate in the contests for federal and regional grants. The department conducts research on the topics: resource-saving technologies in feed production and preparation of feeds for feeding; development of new animal product technologies for farms of different forms of incorporation; creation of a new selection group of wool-and-meat producing sheep based on crossing of Krasnoyarsk-Tuvan crossbreeds with coarse wool sheep adapted to the extreme conditions of the arid zone of Siberia in year-round grazing. Six student scientific societies: Feeder, Sheep Breeder, Animal Breeder, Cattle Breeder, Piggy, and Poultry Breeder work under the supervision of the teaching staff.

Employers and employment. Graduates are trained to carry out engineering and manufacturing, organizational and managerial and research activities. They can work as animal technicians, selective breeders, chief animal breeding specialists, managers at agribusiness and processing industry enterprises and research institutions, and teachers in higher professional education and secondary vocational education.
