Achievements and awards. The program was recognized as the agrarian education leader by the Guild of Experts in the Sphere of Professional Education and the National Centre for Public Accreditation as part of the project Best Educational Programs of Innovative Russia. The certified quality management system is successfully implemented.
Teaching staff. The academic degree holders ratio is 90% (20% are Doctors of Sciences). Representatives of specialized organizations are also engaged in the teaching process.
Facilities and resources. The feeding laboratory and the genetic laboratory of the innovative research testing center fitted with state-of-the-art scientific equipment, specially equipped classrooms for animal breeding mechanization, animal feeding, etc.
Research. The promising research areas: improvement of methods of breeding, selection, genetics and reproduction of farm animals; improvement of methods for evaluating genetic variation diversity in populations of farm animals including immunogenetic polymorphism; study of modern aspects of species formation and a gene pool of farm animals; improvement of the system of evaluating selection and technology and physiological factors in animal breeding sectors; development of resource saving technologies of housing, feeding and breeding farm animals, poultry and fish, including organic animal breeding; development of methodological approaches to the procedure and conditions for evaluating the breeding value of poultry; development of plans for selective stock breeding of dairy and meat cattle, swine, horses, and other farm animals.
Education. State-of-the-art technologies, multimedia equipment are used. There is an electronic information educational environment that contains all necessary teaching and learning materials for the program disciplines. Work placements are undertaken at advanced farms of the region and the Central Federal District.
Strategic partners. The university cooperates with agricultural enterprises such as AIC Miratorg, EcoNiva-AIC Holding, Orlovskoe for Stock Breeding, Rus, Maslovo, AIC Orel Niva, Znamensky Selection and Genetic Center, etc.
Strategic partners participate in the program development, are facilities for students’ work placements, potential employers of graduates, members of state examination boards.
