Achievements. The department implements the grant from the Department of Science and Research and Development of the Novosibirsk Mayor's Office, takes part in research funded by the Novosibirsk Region Government, participates in the competitive selection as part of the UMNIK program.

Teaching staff. The program is delivered by 41 teachers. Over 70% have academic degrees of Candidate and Doctor of Engineering Sciences.

Facilities and resources. Practical training facilities include training ranges. The university has state-of-the-art equipment, including personal computers, digital geodetic devices, unmanned aerial vehicles, modern software. Bachelor students use the training and research laboratory of satellite Earth monitoring, the training and research laboratory of virtual and augmented reality, the research laboratory of thematic mapping.

Research. SSUGT has four research institutes, 17 scientific schools, and over 40 research and research and education laboratories and centers. Research and development of geoinformation systems and technologies for different purposes are conducted as part of the program.

The institute established a research and production cartography center to develop scientific, engineering, technology and training and production facilities in the field of cartography and to improve the educational, scientific and technological and innovation potential of the West-Siberian Region.

Education. Teachers use project and research teaching methods, teamwork, innovative assessment systems. Students take part in business games, hackathons ("Technologies of Opportunities," etc.). They participate in the annual international digital cartography contest "Community Challenge" held by the HERE Technologies company.

International projects and programs. Teachers and students participate in the annual international exhibition and scientific congress Interexpo GEO-Siberia.

Competitive advantages. The university develops the continuing education system, delivers CPE programs.

Graduates can work at organizations and services with different hierarchical powers that specialize in cartography, geoinformatics, geoinformation mapping, geodesy and aerospace sensing of the Earth's surface, cartography and geodesy enterprises, industry research centers, RAS institutes.
