Specialist's program
Achievements and awards. The program successfully underwent international professional-public accreditation. Many students are laureates of international and all-Russian competitions: the Antonín Dvořák International Competition of Young Composers (Prague), the international competition festival “Renaissance” (Armenia), the International Festival of Creative Youth "Shabyt" (Kazakhstan), the all-Russian competition "Choral Laboratory. XXI Century," the Alfred Schnittke International Composers' Competition, and others, and winners of various grant contests. Famous alumni of the department are such renowned authors as V. Dashkevich, M. Tariverdiev, A. Zhurbin as well as Jorge López Marín (Cuba), O. Harris (Professor in Nashville, the USA), Li Zhao Xi (Wuhan University, China). Ten students were awarded the scholarship of the Union of Moscow Composers and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
Teaching staff. All teachers of the department are active composers well-known in Russia and abroad (A.L. Larin is Professor Emeritus of KoreaUniversity in Seoul), most of them are members of the Union of Composers of the Russian Federation, have titles of laureates of composer competitions. The teaching staff includes five Professors, two Associate Professors and one Assistant Professor, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation K.E. Volkov, and three Honored Art Workers.
Education. Many students participate in master classes, creative laboratories, numerous creative projects including foreign ones. Students rehearse their compositions with the symphony orchestra of the academy and with the orchestra of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, chamber ensembles and soloists. These compositions are performed in the academy's concert halls in the Premier Evenings cycles, and other concerts.
Graduates’ professional competencies allow them to work as teachers, actively cooperate with concert and theater ensembles, motion picture companies and music publishers.
Strategic partners. The department has numerous creative contacts abroad. The teachers give master classes, act as visiting professors at various educational institutions including KoreaUniversity (Seoul), the Regional Conservatory of Paris (CRR de Paris), EmoryUniversity (Atlanta, the USA), etc. The teachers of the department maintain long-term and close cooperation with Xavier Dulette, a conductor; Teo Aparicio Barberán, a composer and director; John Anthony Lennon, Professor of Emory University; Eric Nelson, a choir conductor, and others. The teachers participate in the jury of the Antonín Dvořák International Competition of Young Composers (Seoul– Prague), the international competition festival “Renaissance” (Armenia), the open all-Russian competitions "Choral Laboratory. XXI Century," "Young Classics."
