Teaching staff. Training is provided by the teaching staff under the supervision of I.V. Nesterov, Head of the Department, Candidate of Engineering Sciences, Associate Professor, who is the author of software systems KATRAN (awarded the medals and diploma of the Exhibition of Economic Achievements) and SHAHTA for strength calculations for building structures, tunnels and roadbed. The teaching staff includes N.N. Shaposhnikov, Academician of the International Informatization Academy, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction, an honorary member of the Russian Engineering Academy, Doctor of Engineering Sciences, Professor; nine Candidates of Engineering Sciences, Associate Professors, seven Assistant Professors, three Assistants.
Facilities and resources. The department has a specialized computer classroom with software. The classes are given in classrooms equipped with computers, projectors and interactive boards. Laboratory work is done in specialized classrooms with required equipment.
Education. The department actively updates the academic database and introduces new software systems in the educational process. It applies multimedia tools of the Informatization Department of the Institute of Track, Construction and Structures to demonstrate logical images necessary for learning: graphs, charts, diagrams, presentations, a kind of simplified representations using state-of-the-art technology to illustrate complex structures, which facilitates the process of students' knowledge comprehension. Students undertake their work placement at partner enterprises. The university implements a broad international student exchange program.
