Programme presentation. The key advantage of the study programme is its diversity of training and present-day technological facilities. In the academic process the students master fundamental artistic and technical subjects within the study field and get familiar with the latest technologies. The artistic subjects develop the students’ skills in the field of visual and applied arts; IT-subjects – the skill of graphics programming. The technical disciplines provide the knowledge of the materials properties and present-day methods of their processing.

The academic process is facilitated by the advanced technological equipment owned by the Department, which includes metal processingcentres with programmed numerical control produced by DMG Machine building concern (Germany), welding equipment of the German company KjellbergFinsterwalde, an injection moulding machine, a paint-spraying booth, a 3D printer, and a 3D scanner.

Teaching staff. The graduate department is composed of 3 professors, 17 associate professors, including the RF Honoured Workers of Science and Engineering. 10 post-graduate students annually study at the department, which is an undisputed indicator of the young people’s involvement in this field of study. The majority of the staff underwent internships at the universities of Russia, Germany and Japan.

Competitiveness of students. Students have an opportunity to go on exchange study visits to Rhein Main University of Applied Sciences (Wiesbaden-Russelsheim, Germany). There is International summer school, which was attended by 10 students from Germany, 4 students from KumamotoUniversity (Japan) and 7 students of NovosibirskStateTechnicalUniversity. Within the framework of the school work 10 students took a 2 week-training course at Rhein Main University of Applied Sciences.

A 15-year work experience of training specialists showed that the graduates are capable of productive work at their own small-scale companies and being heads of technological departments of profile institutions.

Interaction with employers. The students are placed for work experience at the leading companies of Novosibirsk and Siberian Region – at the art castings and decorative ironwork enterprises, and advertising agencies. Many students are offered permanent jobs after their practical training.
