Awards and achievements. The program underwent professional-public accreditation in 2015. The teachers of the department published more than 600 works, in particular, more than 350 works in the leading Russian and foreign journals (Web of Science and Scopus), five patents of the Russian Federation and two patents of the USA. The department implements the grants provided by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, the Russian Science Foundation, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. The Russian Federation President grants and scholarship are also awarded.

Teaching staff. The academic degree holders ratio is 97%. The teaching staff includes seven Doctors of Sciences and 17 Candidates of Sciences. The Head of Department is a holder of the title of Honored Worker of Science and Technology of the Russian Federation and has been awarded the medal “For Valorous Labor.” The leading Russian and foreign scientists and representatives of the real sector of economy are engaged in the educational program implementation.

Facilities and resources. The university has lecture halls equipped with multimedia, university and research chemical laboratories, self-access centers, computer classrooms, and many other facilities.

Research. The promising research areas include the following: new methodologies of selective synthesis (development of synthesis methods for new compounds with potentially useful properties including biologically active compounds for OLED technologies, etc., modern organic and medical chemistry research). Research is conducted in the priority areas of the regional and university development.

Education. The educational process is implemented using state-of-the-art technologies and equipment of the laboratory of chemical synthesis and physicochemical analysis.

Strategic partners. The main partners are Southern Federal University, Ural Federal University, the Faculty of Chemistry of Lomonosov Moscow State University, D.Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia, Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, Omsk State University, Perm State University, N. D. Zelinsky Institute of Organic Chemistry Russian Academy of Sciences; the Institute of Technical Chemistry of Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The institute has concluded cooperation agreements with the Arnest chemical plant; the National Aerosol Cluster aluminum manufacturer; the Concern Energomera electronics manufacturer; the NPK ESKOM pharmaceutical company; Monocrystal, a leading supplier of sapphire; the Alfaproekt Expert Center; the Lux-S production and trade company; the Luminofor research and production company.

International projects and programs. The university cooperates with the following foreign universities: New Mexico Tech (USA), Kansas University (USA), University of Illinois in Chicago (USA).
