Awards and achievements. The program successfully underwent state accreditation in 2018 and professional-public accreditation carried out by the Leningrad Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 2020.
Two students of this educational program were awarded winner's certificates in the competition "I am a Specialist" in 2020.
Teaching staff. 93.75% of teachers have academic degrees. Among them are five Doctors of Engineering Sciences, two Doctors of Engineering Sciences from the real engineering and defense industries of the economy.
Facilities and resources. There is unique equipment students use for research while doing laboratory and academic and research work: two sets of 3D robots, state-of-the-art laser machines, a state-of-the-art system of information transfer according to MIMO technology, optical systems and complexes.
Research. The department’s research activities cover the most promising areas of modern optical instrument engineering: development of 3D scanners, optical surface treatment systems.
Education. The university trains process designers for design and support of manufacturing optical devices, aerospace optical and optoelectronic devices and complexes. These specific features determine the ideology and methodology of the educational program.
Strategic partners. The Piramida research and production enterprise, Radiofizika, Chelyabinsk Radio Manufacturing Plant, Concern Granit-Electron, Akvamarin, Rubezh Tekhno, Lianozovo Electromechanical Plant.
International projects and programs. The teaching staff and students majoring in Optical Engineering take an active part in international research and technology conferences WECONF, research contests, and grant programs of the Russian Science Foundation and the Russian Foundation for Basic Research.
