Winter in Russia

The kingdom of snow, ice, and cold—that’s what some foreigners think of Russia in winter, but it's only partly true. Yes, it can sometimes be cold and even too cold. Peak sub-zero temperatures are mostly recorded beyond the Arctic Circle and in Siberia: in Chukotka, Yakutia, the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the Komi Republic. In winter, temperatures can drop below -50 °С here.

Subtropics and middle latitudes with seasonal climate changes, from cold to warm and even hot weather, are quite a different story.

Anyway, our country is famous for its long and snowy winters. Besides three winter months, it can snow at least in November and March. So, getting ready to leave for Russia, don’t forget to put on warmer clothes to take a break from your everyday study life and enjoy outdoor activities and the beauties of Russian winter.
