Accreditation. State accreditation. International accreditation carried out by the Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating IAAR according to the standards of the World Federation for Medical Education –WFME.
Awards and achievements. The program has been ranked among the Best Educational Programs of Innovative Russia since 2011.
Teaching staff. The five departments of dentistry employ 17 Professors, 21 Associate Professors and over 30 Assistants, Candidates of Medical Sciences. The academic degree holders ratio is over 94%. The university develops academic staff mobility. Researchers from Russia, Belarus, Tajikistan, and Armenia are engaged in the teaching process.
Facilities and resources include six theoretical buildings, over 100 classrooms with state-of-the-art equipment, the multidisciplinary accreditation center for honing practical skills and using simulation technologies. The university has prepared the project “SamSMU International Center for Digital Dentistry” and started its implementation.
Education. State-of-the-art active and interactive teaching methods and learning technologies are widely used.
Research. There are two cross-cutting themes of research:
- «Etiology, pathogenesis, epidemiology, aspects of clinical progression of dental diseases. Prevention, diagnosis, development of treatment and rehabilitation methods» (the work is conducted in cooperation with the Central Research Institute of Dental and Maxillofacial Surgery, Moscow),
- «Aspects of treatment and rehabilitation of dental patients affected by general somatic diseases» (the work is conducted in cooperation with Moscow State University of Medicine and Dentistry named after A.I. Evdokimov).
Competitive advantages. Internships are undertaken at multidisciplinary preventive medicine organizations in the Samara Region. The university organizes educational internships and work placements for students in cooperation with Belarusian State Medical University, Tashkent State Medical University, Avicenna Tajik State Medical University, Vitebsk State Order of Peoples’ Friendship Medical University. SamSMU is one of 57 members of the Dentistry Research and Education Medical Cluster. The university develops the system of continuing medical and pharmaceutical education, delivers continuing professional education programs.
Employers and employment. The graduate employment rate is 96%. The university’s cooperation with the top medical organizations offers students the opportunities to find a job in their degree field and improve their professional skills. Companies such as ROCS, Dentsply Sirona, Rokada-Med provide state-of-the-art equipment and expendable materials to be used in the educational process.
