HEI’s image. Saint Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation is one of the leading high-tech universities of Russia. It was founded in January 1941 as the Leningrad Institute of Aviation. At present the University is well known both in Russia and abroad.

More than 30.000 highly qualified engineers and research engineers became graduates in “Aviation Instrument Engineering”. After the transition to the cycle system of training, the area of learning “Instrument Engineering” within the Bachelor’s programme “Aviation Instruments and Measuring and Computing Complexes” has maintained popularity among applicants. Graduates of the Faculty are demanded throughout Russia at engineering and technological enterprises, in research centres and design organizations.

Programme presentation. The quality of the educational process is based on the combination of complete fundamental training and practical engineering creativity. Within the educational programme the training of system integrators of instrument complexes for aviation and aerospace engineering and other industries is conducted.

The improvement of education quality is promoted by the unique material resources, which include laboratories with experimental facilities of various aviation devices and systems and laboratories with specialized navigational procedural aircraft simulators. The opportunity to conduct classes and practical work in the laboratories of industrial enterprises and with real aviation equipment is widely used.

Teaching staff. The teaching staff of the HEI is distinguished by high scientific qualification: more than 90% of teachers have academic degrees and titles, and over 20% of them are Doctors of Sciences and professors. The staff which delivers education and training in Instrument Engineering combines experience and long traditions of educational activity, provided by veterans and middle-aged generation, as well as orientation towards the future of young specialists.

Competitiveness of students. As a rule, applicants have high points in the Unified State Exam. Students in Instrument Engineering successfully take part in national and international research seminars and conferences as well as in Olympiads and competitions.

Interaction with employers. About 50% of students begin to work at Saint Petersburg enterprises on the recommendation of the institute from the 3rd or 4th year of training. Many graduates achieve significant professional results.
