Current position in rankings. Gnesins Academy is ranked among Top 100 best Russian HEIs according to Forbes.
Achievements and awards. The program successfully underwent professional-public accreditation (the National Centre for Public Accreditation, 2014).
Most students are laureates of prestigious international and all-Russian competitions (the Antonín Dvořák International Competition of Young Composers (Prague, Czech Republic), Renaissance (Armenia), Shabyt (Kazakhstan), Choral Laboratory. 21st Century, the International Alfred Schnittke Competition, etc.), the winners of various grant competitions. Every year ten students are awarded the scholarship of the Union of Moscow Composers and the Ministry of Culture of the RF.
Among alumni are renowned composers such as V. Dashkevich, M. Tariverdiev, A. Zhurbin, Jorge López Marín (Cuba), O. Harris (Professor in Nashville, the USA), Li Zhao Xi (Wuhan University, China).
Teaching staff. All teaching staff members are active composers well-known in Russia and abroad (A. Larin is Professor Emeritus of Korea University in Seoul). Most of them are members of the Union of Composers of Russia, laureates of composition competitions. Among them are five Professors, two Associate Professors, one Assistant Professor, People’s Artist of the RF K. Volkov, and three Honored Art Workers of the RF.
Facilities and resources. Specially equipped classrooms for individual and practical classes in special disciplines, the library and record library collections that are regularly replenished, eight concert halls fitted with state-of-the-art recording and video equipment that ensures high-quality recording of concerts.
Education. Many students participate in master classes, creative laboratories and projects including foreign ones, rehearse their compositions with the symphony orchestra of Gnesins Academy and with the orchestra of the Ministry of Defense of the RF, chamber ensembles and soloists and perform with them in the Academy's concert halls.
Strategic partners. Educators collaborate with famous foreign conductors and composers (Xavier Dulette, Teo Aparicio Barberán, John Anthony Lennon, Stefan Hippe, Eric Nelson), give master classes abroad, serve on the jury of prestigious international competitions, visiting professors at Korea University (Seoul), the Regional Conservatory of Paris, Emory University (Atlanta, USA), etc.
Assistance and support for foreign students and teachers. International students and teaching staff are supported by the Dean’s Office for International Students and the Department of International Relations and Creative Projects.
