Current position in rankings. Gnesins Academy is ranked among Top 100 best Russian HEIs according to Forbes.

Achievements and awards. The program successfully underwent professional-public accreditation (the National Centre for Public Accreditation, 2019).

Teaching staff. Training is provided by famous singers, heads of state professional folk song ensembles including nine Professors, ten Associate Professors, two Doctors of Arts, one Doctor of Culturology, and three PhDs in Pedagogy, holders of honorary titles of People’s Artist, Honored Artist, Honored Cultural Worker, Honored Worker of Higher Education, Honored Worker of Higher Professional Education of the RF.

Facilities and resources. The Academy has all the necessary training facilities and resources to ensure high quality of the educational process.

Education. Bachelor students are trained in two majors: Choral Folk Singing and Solo Folk Singing. Students undertake internships in the Kuban Cossack Choir, the North Russian Folk Choir, the Russian Song Folklore Theater, the Pyatnitsky Russian Folk Choir Orchestra, the Russian Song Choir, the Popov Ryazan Russian Folk Choir, the Moscow Center of Folk Culture under L. Riumina, the YaR – Marka folk ensemble directed by V. Deviatov, the Golden Ring National Theater of Folk Music and Song with further employment opportunities. The department organizes and participates in all-Russian and international competition festivals and research and practice conferences on folk performance and education. Students perform with the Nekrasov Russian Folk Instruments Orchestra, the Osipov National Russian Folk Instruments Academic Orchestra, the Rossiya State Russian Folk Ensemble named after Ludmila Zykina, etc. The alumni are famous People’s Artists of the RF, such as N. Kvasov, N. Babkina, A. Litvinenko, L. Riumina, V. Deviatov, N. Bannova, M. Firsov, V. Pozdneev.

Strategic partners. The Academy collaborates with Mongolian State University of Culture and Arts (Ulan Bator), the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory (Almaty), the Belarusian State Academy of Music, the Masherov Vitebsk State University. It regularly holds Meet the Artist events with vocal and instrumental ensembles from Georgia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Serbia, Romania, New Zealand, Italy, and other countries.

Assistance and support for foreign students and teachers. International students and teaching staff are supported by the Dean’s Office for International Students and the Department of International Relations and Creative Projects.
